I'm Yuan and I love creating art inspired by folklore and pop culture. And I love goblins and monsters!
Careful-It is Krampusnacht!
Popular in Alpine folklore, the figure of Krampus is a devil-like creature who punishes badly-behaved children the night before St. Nicholas Day. A rather sinister form of the normal Christmas card, this punishment usually took the form of kidnapping.

In the typical legend, St Nicholas and Krampus work together. St Nicholas leaves sweets for good children and twigs for naughty ones, and Krampus beats the extra naughty ones or hauls them to his lair. -> https://t.co/zstTAcWqEs #folklorethursday
The next morning, the upset farmer was told his fields had been aflame all night- but when he arrived, the crops were safe and the field was neatly mown in perfect- too perfect- circles. The devil had come to do what was asked of him. (2/2)

My take on #Krampus for #FolkloreThursday is more of a great big monster stomping around the North Pole, pulling out Christmas trees🎄

@FolkloreThurs The Wild Hunt is a #folklore motif present throughout European literature, usually represented as a harbinger of death, plague, war and thus are often seen as a villainous entity, despite being led at times by figures like Odin, Theodoric the Great or King Arthur.
I hope you've been good boys & girls this year! Today is #Krampusnacht when Krampus will roam the streets looking for the naughtiest to take back to the underworld with him! #FolkloreThursday
For #FolkloreThursday a post about the Swedish tomte. This little sprite requires a bribe or two to keep the family and home safe from evil - and to not bribe him is to risk nasty consequences... https://t.co/wo6v3xZX56
#JackFrost, is the amazing #WinterWeather spirit that leaves frosty fern-like patterns on windows & nips the extremities in cold weather. He leaves #frost wherever he goes & personifies crisp, cold, wintry weather. Magically depicted in many #ChristmasMovies. #FolkloreThursday
In Scandinavian #folklore the Tomten sleeps under farmhouse floorboards until #winter; when he wakes to prepare for #Christmas! Cleaning, baking sweets & trimming the #ChristmasTree. All he asks in return, is a bowl of porridge with LOTS of butter #ChristmasEve. #FolkloreThursday
