Gundam was definteily made not just make giant robots more "real", but to specifically make robots like Getter Robo more "real". It's no coincidence it featured a trio of mechs, the Gundam, Guntank, and Guncannon, who all look suspiciously similar to Getter's forms.

When Ken-Z closes their shop, after all the machines, mechs, robots, etc are asleep, they go outside under the stars and moon, there is a rising cliff near where the shop is located, they sleep there but they always wish for some company, so the night doesn’t feel too lonely.🔧🛠
