The original art is a little bit too exaggerated for the sake for being look cool, at the same time the spine look actually fine. I think the artist probably draw it with a model reference and make it more dynamic.

this is not the best or most realistic example, but I think working with geometric shapes, hard edges and soft edges gives you freedom to make a cloth that doesn't look very dense or weird. Basically exaggerated rendering can change the result a lot, and use reference!!! 🔫😚

I'm not sure how to word it, but to me it felt like the designs became... Exaggerated? Which isnt INHERENTLY bad, simple designs can be good (especially for animation).
Season 1 wasn't really "consistent" but it's look and feeling still feels more focused and interesting 2 me.
