I often worry that I rely too much on layer modifiers in my art (luminosity, multiply, etc) so I decided to try a different style and not use any of them.

This is still a w.i.p, but I'm posting it anyway.

Bacteria multiply through cell division - most undergo a process called binary fission resulting in two daughter cells. 👯

So what I did to make a fire effect was
1st: Create an "Add (Glow) Layer" and set it to 20% and add a orange shine
2nd: I created a "Multiply layer" and shaded the parts around the fire
3rd: Colored in the fire and bam thats it

Horde is a Molynian from the planet Ordi. She can multiply from severed body parts and zombify anyone she bites. She is also hyper-intelligent despite speaking via moans.

had some issues here and there (you need to apply all mirrors and rearrange overlapping uv islands around in new uv to bake properly), at the end I baked just shadows and applied them in multiply mode. Work in Pepakura is next :)

I was practicing make some light and shadows using multiply and other tools, i'm not ok with the result but the practices was good to continue learning it.

That's all for now

Interesting! I also use it. I don't have much to say about lineart as it already looks good enough.
However, when you are about to shade the coloring you can use the clipping tool, set on multiply and low the opacity. This video explains better https://t.co/F8AJnFuFbm

I discovered how the multiply layer on procreate works so take random art that I did using it.

Also Bronwyn hasn’t changed their look she’s just been impaled recently. These are both rough sketches but in general I‘m probably going to do more stuff like this in future.

They're multiplying! Going further with my pixel art endeavour. Plans for the future include fully customizable characters with different weapons and outfits.

Colouring remains the worst. My process is generally - do b/w tones to get correct values, shade it, then paint colours with overlay/multiply/screen as needed. But that bleaches the skin in more pigmented lighting, apparently! So gotta darken the tones to not bleach out my boyyy.

all the artist had to do is draw over with a multiply layer it's really not that hard 🤨
