I'd say probably my favorite OC design I've done has to be a tie between two characters. The Gahiji, who is from my story, and Mr. Rhoads, who is not. Mr. Rhoads was created with the intent of a whole other story, but one project at a time!

Most sci-fi design fans know Ralph McQuarrie was Star Wars’ production designer and painted the cover for the first movie tie-in book, too. But few know he also did tons of sketches for alternative Star Wars logos, books and posters. They were never used. And they’re quite good.

It's a tie between these two! Mauri (black hair) and Tara (blonde) were two characters I designed for silly comedy strips back in 5th grade, and they've been recycled a bunch of times, most notably as side characters in my first webcomic.

All very rough for a start. Nothing is accurate just now. I constantly rework every area of an oil painting, then tie it all together much later, but here’s a sense of where it’s going. Not sure how detailed I want to be. I’ve never attempted this sort of thing at all.
