This is a bird thing. It eats that gloopy parasitic tree thing which spreads its spores through "dripping" tendrils which grow across the ground until it finds withered trees to revitalize and continue the cycle.

Sharon's a living planet, compressed into a size even smaller than most adults. She still has a significant gravitational pull. Her entire ecosystem is plains, so she's covered in grass which she mowed to look more human. She also grew trees, but there's no fauna.
