It can be a great tool for getting to an end goal faster. I focus on creatures but having a creature in an environment helps makes it look more real and believable. Also, using photos in my backgrounds allows me more time for more creatures.

I finally decided to give Paint Tool SAI a go, after trying every fancier painting tool, and... SAI turns out to be the most comfortable of them all. Feels almost like painting with watercolours. Why did I wait so long?
