the lines at the back around the shoulders is the scapula of course so this is the shape they have and they tend to rotate with the arm! and around the back of the hips is your pelvis. you would usually have not TOO much definition around the edge of it like you do on the front

I'd say you did pretty good for your first time in 15 years! Are the round pupils a stylistic choice? Because Sonic characters tend to have long oval shaped pupils. Thats the only thing I'd have to say for a critique in all honesty. But if its a stylistic choice that's fine.

Sometimes I have to test out the colors with the grayscale before advancing more on shading the body. Heads tend to be a good place to test if the shadows will work with a certain color scheme. At least to me! XD
