Perhaps it is a regional quauhololli variation (hence the ball), though I interpreted it as feathers.

Wow it's ANOTHER Tod redesign! It's really just markings-wise, but I also wanted to see how he'd look without his scars + missing eye (read: I didn't want to deal with drawing the 8 ball) so this acts as a bit of a "what if" for if his parents didn't die!
