I have a really bad habit of over complicating my art. The simpler pieces I feel end up being a lot more appealing and easier to read.

Also, since I’m very much still learning, it’s probably better that I focus on simpler basics rather than muddying things up w overwork.

Its been a long time since I've been able to do a painting. Even if its half mirror tooled, the only thing I wanted to get out of this was colors not looking muddy, and melty features. So I got what I wanted out of coming up with a design for Nohwyr's Husband pre-tiefling-life.

I changed the color of Kasumi's eyes slightly. Yellow is a hard color to darken, it just looks so muddy and gross, so I decided to add a red/magenta tone to the darker parts of her eyes. It looks much warmer~

These are really nice!! I think the 2 main pointers I would give if you're looking to do card artwork is that;

1. Some parts of your pieces are getting a little muddy because there's so much going on in a small area with similar value ranges. The two sections I've linked here

The IceWing is Tundra and he has some black scales and he has the teardrop scale at his eyes. The mudwing is Muddy and he's the adopted child of Qubli and Umber. There is a SandWing but I haven't decided on a name for him

Coloring Process:
- Mainly self explanatory w the images but I'll just emphasize that the balance between soft and hard edges + use of interesting shapes in shading really makes a difference
- Only soft shading: piece looks muddy
- Only hard shading: don't know where to focus
