I have a love-hate relationship with backgrounds. Once I realized I could make them into characters, and use Seussian dreamscape warped proportions, I ceased to regard them as a total chore. But I still have a long way to go before I give them the love they deserve.

Used my vintage 1950s watercolor pencils + some Koi watercolors on this sea queen my sailing friends had me sketch a while back while we were anchored near Poulsbo. Color pallets based on a pic I took of Port Townsend c:

but yeah - another cheese move for backgrounds is gradients for sure lmao like for fight scenes. Airbrush them isn't too much of a chore

they’re selectively mute because they can’t move their face very much, so speaking is a bit of a chore. they’re very friendly, if a bit odd…
