1) Create a new layer on top of a color layer and select “clipping”
2)Choose where the light will be coming from
3)chose a different color than the original and then darken it (look at pic 1 and 2)(look up color theory for this) and a
4)Shade following the shape (pic3)

Hiya! I feel like the biggest issues here are: I can't tell where the focus is due to how bright the bottom is, and there's an overcomplication of texture and shape. I filled in her dress, darkened the bottom, and pushed the brain into the BG more :)

I made a comparison for a point that I will be good for you to learn. Try to avoid shading by just darkening a color, but instead using shifted colors to shade. It will make your colors much richer.

Also, don't be afraid of shading hair by adding more detail to the shading.
