For the uninitiated, look at this guy!
Who WOULDN'T cast him as a surprise cameo woodsman/hunter in a fantasy setting described as, and I quote, "Camelot meets Grimms' Fairy Tales."

The lazy spinning woman. A young wife is trying to avoid spinning. So when her helpful husband goes to cut wood for a reel, she hides in the tree and says "whoever cuts wood for a reel will die", and the man runs away in terror.

Meet Nihm, caretaker of Grimmsteeds and cook for the Grimm Troupe

Swedish-American artist and animator Gustaf Tenggren's (1896-1970) passionate, urgent illustrations of Grimms’ Fairy Tales from 1923.

The young giant. A farmer has a son as tall as a thumb. One day the son is stolen by a giant who suckles (!) the child until he becomes a giant too. The giant child then returns to the world of men and causes chaos with his super-strength.

The sea-hare. A princess uses her magic windows to challenge her suitors to a deadly game of hide-and-seek. A fox helps the hero to outwit her, by transforming him into a "sea-hare" and giving him to the unsuspecting princess.

2 9

The wishing table, the gold-ass, and the cudgel in the sack. Three brothers acquire magical items. An evil landlord steaks the self-filling table and the gold-vomiting donkey, but isn't prepared for the cudgel.

1 10

Eve's unequal children. God comes to visit Eve, so she shows him her prettiest children and hides her ugly ones - this is somehow the origin of social class division.

4 10

The brave little tailor. Having successfully squashed some flies, the little tailor sets out to take on the world. Here he is defeating sone giants by tricking them into fighting each other.

5 19

The old man made young again. Jesus and St Peter are visiting a smith and, just for fun, they use the forge to rejuvenate an old man. But when the smith attempts the same trick, things don't go so well.

1 11

A piece inspired by the Grimms fairy tale, The girl without hands

0 2

A peasant and a rich man go to heaven. The peasant is disappointed that he is ignored, while the rich man is heralded with much joy. St Peter explains "we get poor men all the time, whereas there's not been a rich man here for 100s of years"

2 9

Mrs Fox's wedding - when the nine-tailed fox (apparently) dies, various suitors approach his wife, via her maid, the cat...

3 10

The little lamb and the little fish - the evil stepmother turns her stepdaughter into a lamb and her stepson into a fish. But when she tries to eat them, the cook spots that something is up (the animals speaking in rhyme is a bit of a clue).

2 7

Walpurgis Sprite 30: Beleth Fitcher's Bird
You'll tar more feathers with honey than vinegar
But try both just to be safe

0 2

The elves - famous one! The elves help out the poor shoemakers, until they are given clothes. It comes with two other stories - one features a human godmother to a fairy baby, which is a nice counterpoint to all those fairy godmothers.

1 11

The four skilful brothers. The brothers are respectively a thief, stargazer, hunter and tailor. They go to rescue a princess from a dragon, but their task is made difficult because the dragon is asleep in her lap...

2 6

Donkey cabbages - here is the hero using the magic cloak to fly the witch's daughter to the jewel mountain - after he throws up the magic bird heart and before he eats the magic cabbage and turns into a donkey.

1 7

The learned hunter - with the help of supernatural hunting abilities, a magic sword, and a stolen slipper, the hunter successfully defeats three giants and gets together with the princess.
