Again, self-affirmation is, to an extent, healthy & even crucial. But so, so many movies have variants of this theme now. The villain is always misunderstood, the hero is always repressed. The central virtue is always affirmation, never growth or reflection, let alone repentance.

The message is most often spread in family movies, so it might be most illuminating to look at some of them. I'll start with Aladdin, since it is a movie that might *seem* to follow this theme, but actually rebukes it.

The expanded universe really explained the development of the new jedi order and the problems of the galaxy. They, the novels, are rich with characters and story. Which we are getting on disney+ , but was not done as well in movies 7 to 9.

Encanto is now one of my favorite movies and Camilo is my favorite character despite getting little screen time. I may add more to the background later but for now, here’s the finished drawing lol

Took my own shot at a grimey hobo Riddler after seeing the new movies' design.

i think havin a tattered dirty formal getup under his baggy coat wouldve been a nice bit of visual storytelling for their version while still being a nod to his usual designs
