Just a comparison of the old and new to show my thought process. The end result should be more like a painting, which I’m gradually pushing in that direction with each layer of sketching. Decided to turn the body bag into a guy split on a meat hook and bring ribs to the counter.

The Umineko anime has good character designs but its unfortunate the adaptation isn't good. If we get a remake hopefully the art direction is just as good or better.
