I start out creating various monochromatic compositions which I then experiment with over and over until finding a composition I like. I look at wildlife photos of pelagic fish as well as paintings by the amazing artist Stanley Meltzoff for inspiration.

There was this lovely picture on reddit that I really wanted to draw.

Although this was a fun composition, I had absolutely no idea how to deal with the water 😅

Does anyone have any [advice] to share?

Visdev seems pretty scary to me because it encompasses so many abilities in art like good background skills, composition, perspective and world building but as daunting as it is I feel really drawn to it.

It's pretty fun to make stuff in Blender, though I struggled disproportionately with the renderer. Need to work on the composition if I want to do this seriously too. And I couldn't make rain and puddles. Reference image by Hasui Kawase! (flipped it too)
