A reconstruction of Phu noi Mamenchisaurid.

Not sure how this is useful research... seems to be capitalising on public fascination with the mummified remains of ancient Egyptian people & interest in 3D printing to create an entirely speculative reconstruction with little purpose or basis in reality https://t.co/9gmtXYZu8O

Finally, Allosaurus jimmadseni has been formalised! Congrats to Mark Loewen and Dan Chure for this paper. Really nice reconstructions (and a bunch of photos of mine).

Day 23 Interpretation

The image from 1909 is the interpretation of neanderthals based on the La Chapelle aux saints skeleton, the one beside it is a modern reconstruction.

These images show how advanced our interpretation of this species has come.

I don't think I've ever seen an ichthyosaur muscle reconstruction, so thought I'd spend a few moments on one this morning... I've emerged from the rabbit hole hours later with this take on Ophthalmosaurus myology (drawn over skeletal McGowan and Motani 2003)

Anyway, back to Spindler's paper. They provide a new reconstruction of the smushed skull, calling into question a number of the characters previously used to support the therapsid affinity. They decide its a pelycosaur, but more primitive than I found, outside sphenacodontids

Fast Castle, Borders (Scotland) watercolour reconstruction suggestion from 1987. Changed it when I found Hall machicolations led to a Keep which makes more defensive sense.

Chris Jones-Jenkins' reconstruction of Ruthin Castle is magnificent. He told us about what went into it and some of the documents used to work out how the castle may have looked. https://t.co/0JUn0BBZGc

I really wanted a reconstruction of Caudipteryx that I liked, so I made one myself! (truth be told though has a lovely reconstruction that I drew some inspiration from). The guy on the right is also based on 's skeletal. They're so leggy!
