It's an edit but I like to think of it as a restoration. Based on the shots we have, it's obvious the cleavage was there initially. However, corporate stepped in and told them to tone it down.

Fun Fact about Bart vs the Space Mutants for NES:

The game was actually initially "GUMBLY vs the Space Mutants", but this was changed mid-development due to immense fan backlash
