I can't count how many times a random design decision has influenced the rest of the piece. For this piece, it was the turquoise rim lighting I added to the face. Suddenly nearly everything in the piece had its colors impacted by this lighting choice.

I think something I need to try and do more as an artist, is try less to nail details when using reference. And focus more on simplifying said details to match my style.

From the neck up looks good. But everything else suffers due to me trying to match the reference.
