ah and yeah, the dithering! it's actually the final step in the process. I use GIMP to do it, and it makes a huge difference. For example, here's the before and after for this piece

Update: Made a final design and decided to render it as well as do color variations and a reference page. I've also added the sketch notes to document the process. The sculpting process has begun and I shall post updates once I have them ready😎

oh, you might want to look into painting over your sketch instead! You got to clean it first, but then you can skip the whole linearting process. Here's a speed paint that does that, and example of my own process from a clean sketch

A Miku with flat colors. I'm practice to be a bit faster in my drawing process. Shading is the most time consuming step but at least I could finish a flat color drawing, everytime, a bit more faster than the last time.
