Day 766: Meat! Tonight's result was interesting to say the least. Working on meat was kinda difficult, it's such a unique texture. Still, I think it was definitely a good practice for me! I really enjoy analyzing and trying to break down and understand these different textures!

Prompt for today is Whale, and this is the Whale Fin Snake Plant! Couldn't resist adding some texture.

Snake plants are hardy house plants, known for air purifying. This one is also called Paddle Plant.

Ever noticed that European pears have gritty flesh? The cells of the pear have very thick, hardened walls, which cause the fruit to have a 'gritty' texture. These are known as 'stone cells'. Discover more in this weeks - https://t.co/wWYqA8oosW

The earliest known render of Dixie Kong is this piece, created to promote Donkey Kong Country 2 in the months leading up to its release. Note the lack of pre-rendered fur. This is the only render of Dixie crafted with the original DKC-style clay-like fur texture.

Also I’m planning on doing inktober this year… Not sure if I will be able to do all the days but I’m looking forward to playing with different ink textures. For example this bat was made with an ink texture I made last year and a paper texture.

The white "appendages" of his body also don't have any texture. They look too clean. It doesn't seem to be bony, and the shapes don't help it to make the connection.

All of this makes the design look more like Mega Man, than it reminds a skeleton - as it should.

Another thing is that the white parts of his body are not "clean": they have little lines to represent a bony texture. It's something all of the reference designs have in common.

The tail of the Heroes' character even pushes this idea to its limit by looking completely skeletal.

A look into my process from thumbnails to color blocking, details and then final adjustments.
I don’t do lineart when I block in the colors. I do use lots of layer masks and paint brushes for texture.

Here's my next with 's character. My favorite part of her artwork is the texture. That mixed with the colors, I could stare at her work for hours.

Hope you all like it :)

Day 11 - Color studies from Thor and experimenting with texture. I can't remember the last time I painted a beard ... it was ... this took a lot of time. xD
