Like you can get lost down a deep rabbit hole looking up all the art, music, animations, and games all freely made because nobody had to ask ZUN for permission to use his characters or settings.
I feel Touhou is the has the kind of decentralized organic brand building that most NFT projects strive for. ZUN's loose usage of the IP made it into an easy primitive for indie artits, developers, and musicians to spawn so many derivatives of the project.
