iPad is dead but I'll try 2 explain!! I use a flat brush for most of the colouring so it's lots of layering colours on top of eachother and if needed I set the smudge tool to flat brush or custom brushes I downloaded just 4 skin. 4 reference I used to look at Sui ishida art :]

I mean, that's the point. I get what you mean, tweaked Tour ports are undoubtedly lower fidelity than Mario Kart 8, but the SNES Mario Circuits are paved over dirt, while Donut Plains is dirt roads on grass.
Even if it was up to the quality of MK8, Mario Circuit would be muddy.
