I really love this one?? Okay basically if an image has a lot of interesting/sharp shapes it's so much easier to figure out positions. Try it yourself! Find contrasting images with lots of shapes inside them, it can help a ton. :)
@galaxase I've only started trying this out recently, but what I do is scan the sketch, darken the contrast on it, add a new layer and set it to "multiply", and do the coloring on there.

#Sketching some of the residents of the #Milwaukee County Zoo with students this week. Tried a combination of ebony pencil and burnt siena, which was a great way to make contrast and to capture their wonderful personalities. #animals #nature #birds #giraffes

Okay so I really love how this one came out?? I think photographs with really well defined shapes help me grasp the study much better! (not to mention clear contrast)
What do you notice when doing studies?
Character reference for @the_pseudoverse's character and certified good boy Jasper, had a lot of fun with this one! Leaning more into a high contrast style, blaming it on @ReaganLodge and his art streams
My scanner has way too pale colours and my phone just loves saturation and contrast way too much. :((

This enigmatic painting, "Two Girls" by Russian artist Boris Grigoriev would be nearly monochromatic if not for the viridian ribbon on the figure at left. A small amount of contrast can create the impression of much more color than was actually employed on the palette!
