I usually start out by picking if I want majorly warm or cool colors. I usually pick a main color for the wardrobe and pick colors that compliment it and can pop out in a nice way. I like more vibrant colors than faded ones personally but you do what you want!!

I got a question about my shading process so I thought I'd share. First has my character flats with their standard colors. Second is the shading layer as it appears under Normal blending mode. Third is that same layer set to Multiply. Last, a pink wash Overlay.

( Their pose is inspired by the original space sapphic power couple Sailor Neptune/ Sailor Uranus. And Tina's costume has hints of orange cause there was no way I wasn't including the lesbian flag colors. )

Gray doesn't like to wear colors. Only exceptions are dark blue, red and purple but they gotta be mixed with black and/or gray. Her clothing style is goth but she rarely goes all the way in that makeover. Dresses like this are a big no for her.
