During today's Study Buddy stream, we continued studying backgrounds and scenes by breaking down a bunch of references into 3-4 fore/mid/background layers and then did an atmospheric perspective study!

as I said earlier in the thread, color tangents/bleed is a big problem in these books (and 90s comics in general imo). the artist/colorist fails to separate elements/layers effectively for ease of interpretation, which isn't helped when every character has the same color scheme.

How I do shading: just with full black, and changing opacity. Doing multiple layers for the deeper shading (shadow on shadow parts).
I usually finish with highlights and ‘light edges’. I just add shading what feels right, and looks ok. I’m not going for realistic anyway…
having chronic insomnia broadly sucks ass BUT it also means i can do most of my session planning before my players are awake and can be annoying about it >:)
