The thing I find most interesting about "Wild Tulip" is the structure of its pattern. Morris's patterns (and by extension most Morris & Co. patterns) have either 'net' (mirrored symmetrical) or 'meander' structures. Wild Tulip is a meander; Eyebright, for example, is a net.

Was looking up locations of Vivillon Patterns... this website is partly wrong. NJ doesn't get polar. I lived on the edge of northern Union County... and we got Meadow Pattern. (Aka, the pattern Viola uses in the anime.) It wasn't until I moved to northern MA that I got Polar.

it occurs to me that the design in the middle might be too similar in pattern... if someone DID by the purple one I'd probably ask to make slight alterations to the face and hearts... but hey. That means they get creative freedom over how it looks.

With the official backsprite of Gorochu released, I decided to attempt to design something closer to the official sprite. There are two horns visible in the sprite, just like they described. The triangles on the back don't have an outline, so I figured it must be a fur pattern.

For the coloration, I looked at a bunch of arboreal reptile species, large and small. It's harder than I thought to give it the loose, splotchy look of reptile coloration without losing the semblance of an actual pattern.
