As a boy I was amazed at the work of Alan Sorrell. His reconstruction of Dirleton was the first image of its kind I ever saw. So I copied his techinque of boxing views a section at a time. I used (8 pence) Postcard images in 1981 then scaled up to A3 size (Tantallon example)

A bit of a PSA- please stop drawing Bishanopliosaurus based on this mount. The super round body is just an issue with the mount, and the super stubby head is as well. We don’t have cranial remains of Bishanopliosaurus and it should be reconstructed like a typical Rhomaleosaurid

Fast Castle did reconstruction in 1987 followed corbel machicolations along as I thought it was a Hall block. But changed this when I found (in ruin painting) it led to part of a Keep which makes alot more defensive sense. So tweaked reconstruction.

To reconstruct the sabretooth Lokotunjailurus I started by sketching the fossils at the National Museums of Kenya in Nairobi. Then I combined sketches and photos to draw the articulated neck and skull. Finally I painted the animal killing a hapless Hipparion.
