You can turn up the brightness on the image, but most of the face detail simply doesn't render. The big takeaways are: 1) the pattern of scars looks a lot more like burns than cuts, and 2) there's the barest hint of a few eyebrow hairs left, I think.

Lines to help solidify my idea ➡️ A quick color pass for the background (with the help of studies from pictures) ➡️ Base color and shading for the main character + effects

I generally keep a lot of pieces separate while I model so I don't have to manually recolour all the little faces to be what colour they're supposed to be in the pretty render... so up until this point, every part that's a different colour is a different piece. Let's merge down!
