Finished Ys I Chronicles after 7 hours. A bit rough around the edges - had to look up help a few times due to unclear progression paths, the bump combat system is weird, also I had to cheat on the final boss to a bug that sped up all their attacks, basically making it unkillable.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox was a really fun entry in the Ys series. The city was really fun to explore, and movement felt super fluid, especially with the movement options given through the characters' gifts. I like this game so much that I got 100% in it.
So to start with, I'll just throw out some highlights since I don't have an ordered GOTY list. Ys 9 was a really great hack and slash JRPG with some of the best characters I've seen this year. Very fun and smooth game to play, with unique traversal options to keep things fresh
Before meeting YS, I was hypnotized. I wanted to believe I was happy, I wanted to pretend everything was fine when it wasn't. I was so depressed.
But since I became ELF, I could finally find happiness & peace in life.
