Here's another fighting game I loved but most were into Tekken 3 during 1998.

"Flying Dragon" for the N64. I loved the shit out of this game. Specifically, it's SD Mode. It was like 2 fighting games in one but the SD Mode gave you a story mode as well as you can unlock more ->

Paper Mario started as a sequel, but ended up being a standalone game. That screen is from a pre-release, PM is titled "Mario Story" in Japan. Super Mario RPG for SNES is a completely different experience & the director wants to do a real sequel.
