Along with values - the whole range of tints and tones - contrast is very important. This is about how the values are arranged in the image - areas of high contrast (very dark + very light) draw the eye, areas of low contrast (similar values) are restful

New Learning Thread Incoming! 🧵

When talking about Lighting + Values for #splash #art that means the lighting design and the structure of the full range of light-to-dark tones in an illustration. We're going to look at alot of grayscale today.

some memorable moments from the #FFXIV Irregular Tomestones of Lore experience for me thus far...
... as I interpret them

Star had reminded me about how we were both gonna draw our birth stone, Alexandrite, as people and I’d be drawing the girl one while she drew the boy one. I like how it’s a very unique stone that just changes colors in lightings and depending on type, are red/green tones.

#SixTONES

birds sing of a fable,
set in world of dismay.

Stones are hurled at trees
which bear fruits.
Then the same tired souls
sleep under it’s shade.

The tree remains loving,
in a world of indifference,
for it knows,it’s only love which
mends the broken.

I have trouble with skin tones and some times it feels like I make them too light or too dark

I tried making Jill less gray and darkened Yui a slight bit, and I feel like it's slightly better

Right is changed left is before

Kinda reckoning that these Orc/Elves have a naturally golden skin colour (across any range of tones) and a tendency to be very triangle shaped? https://t.co/IbW4KqOP3g
