I believed a man can fly. Because of Superman The Movie, I learned that just because the world can be dark and cruel, it doesn't mean YOU have to.

Rest In Peace, Richard Donner. You will be forever missed.

The Legacy that Richard Donner created by Choosing Christopher Reeve as is something that will never be forgotten as it's the Inspiration for Artists like RIP to both Richard Donner & Christopher Reeve who brought the Original Superhero to Life.

The creative influence of Richard Donner’s Superman is so ingrained in me every single time I draw that character and his world. Every single time. That’s an influence that will never cease in me as long as I live.

Saddened to hear about the passing of one of the most beloved directors, RICHARD DONNER. From his early tv gigs (on Twilight Zone episodes like the classic "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet") to cult movies like SUPERMAN & THE GOONIES & LETHAL WEAPON series, his legacy will live forever.

With Superman, it was Donner who insisted the subject of the comic book superhero should be treated "straight," giving respect to the genre's particular conventions and tone, rather than the "camp" tone that was planned for the film.

The result is a timeless cinematic classic.

Richard Donner, who made us believe a man could fly with Superman, gave us the blueprint for the buddy cop movie in Lethal Weapon and arguably made the greatest kids film ever with Goonies.

Feels like obviously people are gonna focus mostly on Richard Donner's film career but let's not forget his contributions to comics and Superman lore in general

Richard Donner's SUPERMAN THE MOVIE is the very template every comic book film overlooks at its peril. He flew its vital sense of verisimilitude throughout THE GOONIES, LETHAL WEAPON, THE OMEN & more and cinema & our youth flew because of it.

John Byrne for me. Post-Crisis 80s/90s Superman was what I grew up with. That's an iconic look.

Gary Frank has always been my favourite for Superman! Makes him look so powerful, yet so cuddly lol
