It's a VERY common error. Heck WAAYYYY back when I interned at Marvel, I would tell non-comic book people, & they'd say "Is that, like, Spider-Man?" Or "...Spider-Man and Batman?" And I'd say Batman, WW, & Superman are DC Comics, and they'd always shrug, having never heard of it.

Superman's looks. Dug his jeans, tee & cape debut, to the sigil generating armor with the indestructible cape, and the explanations for them eg linked to his dna/ house of El. Even dug the depowered look with the Fleischer S & buzz cut. The black armor was fire.
