This is a really cool feature. It's an evolution of the Street Fighter 3 games, which had separate animations for blocking mid and high attacks while standing.
left: Ryu blocking mid (mostly standing attacks)

By utilizing low block poses that look like they could block both mid and low attacks, it was not only a smart way to save memory, it also mandated that the low blocks feel especially defensive. Those dual purpose poses FEEL GOOD.
Unlike Street Fighter 6, Street Fighter 3 only has a single low block animation. This played whether you were low blocking mid (standing attacks) or low (sweeping attacks). However SF3 and past SF games in general used low block poses that looked good for both situations.

Nothing makes me happier than going thru my art fight attacks and finding 2+ yr old attacks that I still really enjoy looking at
Both of these were done in Art Fight 2020 and I while I bet I could redo them and they'll look better, I still really like them.
