So the 2003 Clone Wars cartoon was declared non-canon even before the Disney buyout, but there's referenced stuff in there the 2008 series didn't redo, like Ventress's duel with Anakin or Grievous kidnapping Palpatine.

Are PARTS of it canon or are there just narrative gaps, now?
