playing the War Thunder April Fool's Event reminds me how much I genuinely adore the very small mech scale. Stuff like WT's Mobile Infantry, the D-Walker, Armored Trooper VOTOMS, and Heavy Gear. It's all so cool, you know you did realistic mechs right when tanks are boss fights.
@BadGameHOF SEGA did try that early on in Sonic's life. Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine didn't feature Sonic at all (It isn't even implied that you are him), but featured Eggman and his minions.
There's also Knuckles' Chaotix, which ditched Sonic in favor for Knuckles and the Chaotix crew.
