Metapod is based on a butterfly chrysalis. The gold rim swallowtail's has a strong resemblance with it.
Chrysalis refers to the pupal stage of butterflies where, unlike moths whose pupae are cased in silk, the casing is simply a thin layer of hard exoskeleton.

As per our DM's request, I did the bit from the Hellboy comic with three of the four party members in our game. Alcion, my Tabaxi got a lever action rifle from a skeleton in a car. And she was angi, while shooting at a mean ol' familiar. It was great.

i always thought the game over screen was really creepy and i also forgot how fucking jarring the animations that play when you die are, i was replaying it and was freaked out when i died and the music suddenly just stopped and awesome possum degraded into a fucking skeleton
