The combat is a simple turn based 4 guys in a line type thing in the DS version but the PS1 has a shallow but rather neat tactical battle system. There's trade-offs to each but the PS1 has english songs as an option and the DS has maps. YMMV but its delightful all the same.

It isn't perfect, but the amount of effort was put into a niche title to this day amazes me.
What I can say that it is a dub, that inspired me to get into voice acting and gave me a new meaning.
Heck, I even translated and fully dubbed it to my language.
