Probably David’s most famous work is ‘Napoleon Crossing the Alps’ (1801). It idealises Napoleon’s advance into Italy in 1800, his name inscribed in stone alongside other great generals who’d taken this route - Hannibal and Karolus Magnus (Charlemagne). (4/5)

The podcast on Saint Thomas' use of Greek Patristics is taking longer than expected, so for my next podcast episode, I'll be discussing the life and legacy of the Frankish King Charles the Great, or Charlemagne.
