Hana-bi (1997 - Takeshi Kitano) - aka Fireworks. A masterpiece of stillness broken by moments of violence, like the titular fireworks. Each frame a piece of art and a Joe Hisaishi score that feels at odds with what’s on screen, but so very perfect at the same time.
