On the 25th of March 1990, the 1st episode of SD Gundam Gaiden was released. The 4 episodes OVA a series was an adaptation of the cardass series of the same name. It debuted in SRW BX (3DS) in 2015.

It took 7 years but Sunrise finally decided to make a new original Mecha IP that is not Gundam, Code Geass or Wataru. 2014 was also a year with lots of mecha anime & we are clearly seeing a repeat in 2021.
Kyoukai Senki will air in late 2021.
Made in collaboration between Sunrise Beyond & Bandai Spirits, this is Sunrise's 1st new non-franchise mecha anime in 7 years.
