John Mulvany (c. 1839 – 1906) an Irish born artist known for his masterpiece "Custer's Last Rally" immigrated to New York City in 1851 at the age of 12 having witnessed & grasped the horrors of the Irish Great Hunger, his aim was Irish freedom from England

The Duke of Wellington (Born in Dublin) defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo 1815 with 30% of his British Army made up of Irish soldiers
