#OnThisDay in 1757, the Battle of Plassey began in #Bengal, resulting in a victory of #British troops over the then Nawab, Siraj-ud-Daulah. The #British used much of the state’s trade revenue to strengthen their military power before gradually colonising the subcontinent.
