AKIRA (1988) basic synopsis: young orphan boy with understandable chip on his shoulder metamorphosizes into something he could never anticipate. Sad, tragic, and beautiful. This film is like inverted Disney's FANTASIA. Will be thinking on this for a while...
@plentyofalcoves Cool. Will check it out. In the meantime, here's Lupin as a young boy.
Personal concept I created years back, with lots of excavation "action figures" ("Pakal Sinkhole: Palenque Excavation")
I hate stopping films before finishing. But The Black Cauldron (1985) was boring as hell. Worse though, was that Andy Serkis' Gollum portrayal - in voice/personality seems so lifted from the character of GURGI. The phrasing of the word "MASTER" is literally interchangeable.
