Point 7: Worldbuilding. The existence of high tier is more than just a game mechanic. Its a worldbuilding tool. It inspires DMs to create interesting characters, NPCs, villains, allies, and scenarios premised on epic fantasy. Why would we ever want to get rid of this? 1/2

Point 6: Shifting the Paradigm. The biggest misconception of high tier is that the game's structure is the same as low tiers. This is not true, and it is what kills many high tier games.

At high levels, its a different ballpark for DMs and Players on **every** level. 1/3

Point 5: Uniqueness: No, you cannot recreate all the same vibes/experiences of high tier play in lower tiers. For the same reason *burning hands* isn't as fun as *fireball*, casting *meteor swarm* or *wish* are among special moments unique to high tier play.

Point 4: A Golden Opportunity: 5th Edition is by a country mile the **easiest** system to design high tier for. For the first time in D&D's history, the chance for a robust 1 - 20 experience is possible. Don't pass on this chance just because its challenging! Its worth a try.

Point 1: Diversity of play. The more tools you have in your box, the more ways you can solve problems. Higher tier characters give Players a chance to be relentlessly creative and innovative with their play. If you crave new and interesting moments, high tier delivers in spades

There are lots of interesting & fun ways to make lower level characters more powerful w/o leveling up. The same cannot be said about the reverse.

This is why Tier 3/4 monsters are so valuable, and why they should be used more. Their designs drive diverse gameplay & storytelling.

Put more high tier monsters in your games in ways that don't deprive agency. Most Players won't pick fights they can't win, and if they do its their choice! Honor it! A world of fantasy becomes more alive and your encounters less fight-y when explored in this way.
