For most of my books I like to have the story fairy figured out and aim to pitch with a full dummy (manuscript written, with book sketches, and couple final colour examples). Simon was one of those rare exceptions, it was pitched with the above concept art and this short pitch.

In 2015 as I was scribbling story ideas and notes, I also started doing exploration art to play with colour palettes/styles. 👻#BOO
