The empathy here is wonderful. Completely different tone and atmosphere set than when your opponent is actively trying to kill you.
There are several times during this story where it looks like someone is going to lose and they're saved, either by the other racer or by circumstance. Nice tension being built, along with this gorgeous artwork.
Maybe they should just punch the not-Celestials? Punching solves everything. I wonder why they're not punching?
If this were a legitimate military operation, the whole trial should have been over before it got before the judge in public. To go through the motions just seems to further reinforce that the defence attorney is a ratbag.
