After a year-long break, I've gone back to drawing with Krita and a tablet again (instead of a finger on my phone like before), and man, it feels good.

So of course I drew Wario. With a Wario Land 3 variant as a bonus, because why not? Hope you enjoy.

Also, Luigi being promised all the gold coins he can find parallels Wario being promised all the treasure he can find in Wario Land 3, with both examples being in exchange for saving this new world.
Because both Luigi and Wario knew saving the world shouldn't be done for free.

I decided to watch the 1986 Super Mario Bros. anime for the first time last night, and it struck me just how Wario-like Luigi was in his relentless pursuit of gold. It makes me wonder how much this actually inspired Wario's character later on.
