@ubiquitor2 recently found a site which streamed the TV versions of Mermaid Melody episodes, so here is a comparison of the TV version (on the left), compared to the DVD version (on the right) of Episode 27
I swear, even the Sheshe and Mimi scenes scare me😳:

@Beta_off Yeaaa the manga's actually not that good when it comes to representing Sheshe and Mimi, meanwhile the animators in fact favoured them over all the characters, which is why they had so many scenes. Sheshe and Mimi's episode was an anime thing only too 🥲

@mahoutoons Honestly it was because if they WEREN'T call sisters Sheshe and Mimi would've been cancelled way faster in Japan, it's problematic but it's also an excuse for the animators to depict them hugging each other all the time. I mean, if they weren't sisters, we won't have these parts:
