I've honestly had the concept of Peter being replaced or losing part of his soul in my mind for a few years. I've probably even mentioned it at some point here, but seeing Chasm has essentially given me a more concrete way to express that idea, (and spare Ben Reilly).

Saw earlier a trend recommend to me that was called "Peter Parker is Spider-Man" where a bunch of fucking children can't deal with the idea of anyone other than Peter being Spider-Man because they don't understand the concept of AU's, passing on the mantle or legacy characters.

Hear me out:

The Venom Symbiote keeping the spider symbol across several hosts is its inability to fully let go of its feelings for Peter.

It sure is a shame that Marvel has absolutely zero alternatives and got no choice but to regress Peter's character constantly to appeal to that one demographic they're so obsessed with.
